About
Indie Perfume Journal is about the people creating some of the most interesting fragrances out there, often from small studios, home labs and one-person perfume houses.
There’s no shortage of coverage for the big fragrance brands. But there are thousands of independent perfumers creating scents that are strange, beautiful, unexpected and sometimes just really fun. They’re experimenting with unusual notes, telling stories through fragrance and building devoted communities around their work.
We want to introduce you to them, talk about what they’re making and, of course, smell a lot of perfume along the way.

Why indie
Independent perfumers answer to their own noses, not a marketing brief. That freedom produces strange, beautiful, personal work. Every fragrance featured here was made by someone who cared enough to get it right, and we think that's worth celebrating.
Who's behind it
Indie Perfume Journal is edited by Dana Piccoli, a journalist with 15 years of experience covering culture, identity and the communities that don't always get the spotlight. She's also a longtime lover of indie perfume, the kind of person who will happily talk your ear off about a small-batch release from a one-person studio.
This site brings those two things together: real reporting, and real enthusiasm for the people making fragrance on their own terms.
